Welcome to Anime Island
A family-run anime shop in the heart of the East Bay
Anime Island started as a family dream and a shared love of anime, trading cards, and community — now it’s our little slice of paradise inside El Cerrito Plaza.
In late 2022, our family decided to turn years of anime marathons and card game nights into something bigger for the community. With the help of El Cerrito Plaza, we opened Anime Island in May 2023, then wheeled our cases and cabinets across the plaza to our current home at 4060 ECP that November.
Our roots in the Bay Area run deep — from Amy and Jason growing up in Berkeley to raising our family in El Cerrito and Albany. Amy grew up in a family business where the back door was always open and coffee was always on. We might lock the doors now, but we still want Anime Island to feel like that kind of place: cozy, welcoming, and full of familiar faces.
What started as a search for better anime merch and more trading card spaces has turned into a home for local fans of anime, comics, TCGs, and gaming. Whether you’re here for your first figure, your next deck, or just to hang out and talk about the latest episode, we’re so glad you stopped by.
