Hunter × Hunter (ハンター×ハンター, Hantā Hantā), pronounced "Hunter Hunter", is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi with two anime adaptations. The first chapter of the Hunter × Hunter manga series was published in March 1998, in Weekly Shōnen Jump.
The story of Hunter × Hunter focuses on a young boy named Gon Freecss, who one day discovers that the father he has always been told was dead is alive and well. He learns that his father, Ging Freecss, is a legendary Hunter. Despite the fact that his father abandoned Gon with his relatives in order to pursue his dreams, Gon becomes determined to follow his father's footsteps, pass the Hunter Exam, and eventually find his father to prove himself as a Hunter in his own right.
The Paladin's Necklace (聖せい騎き士しの首くび飾かざり, Seikishi no Kubikazari) is a necklace found in Greed Island. The Paladin's Necklace consists of a short-chain (golden in both anime renditions) and a convex pendant slightly smaller than Gon's palm. The pendant's outer rim is, again, golden in both anime adaptations. Its shape is reminiscent of half of an ellipsoid, and its outer surface is divided into four sections by a painted Latin cross, where the horizontal arm, at whose height the chain is attached, divides the vertical one into two equal segments. Each of the four sections sports a decoration possibly similar to a flower (simple geometric shapes in the anime). Protruding from the pendant in correspondence with the top of the cross is a metallic decoration reminiscent of the hilt of a sword whose tip emerges at the bottom of the pendant. Four thinner, symmetrical spikes embellish the outer edge of each section.
